Hollister Hall has an L-plan and occupies the southwest corner of the Engineering Quad. It closes off the west end of the Quad and boarders Central Ave. Like Phillips (1955) and Upson (1956), Hollister is a horizontal block with a flat roof. It sits on a blind loggia supported by rectangular supports clad in gray Ithaca stone. The infill between is glass. Ithaca stone is also used in the stair tower in the southeast corner facing the collegiate Gothic Myron Taylor Hall. The upper stories are framed in limestone panels. The center portion is divided by vertical aluminum mullions. Between them run alternating strips of red terracotta panels and aluminum- cased windows. The DeFrees Hydraulics Laboratory, added in 1982, provides a level grassy area above a platform of orange-tinted, exposed concrete on the East Ave side of Hollister Hall. The walls are pierced by strip windows and a single circular window near the stair leading to the entrance of Hollister. The roof area and stair have stainless steel rails.
