Rand Hall, neighboring Sibley on the east is set off the Arts Quad green and addresses the road. The yellow brick shell encasement is manipulated such that pilasters, window ledges and bands of light stone appear as weaved elements. The building makes reference to classical design through the suggestions of pilasters, capitals, arches, and a round arch entrance. The first two stories are perforated with square and rectangular industrial sash windows, and the third floor arched windows rise of a heavy cornice. Another cornice line tops the third floor; thick bands of brick complete the upward layering of the mass to a flat roof. The many windows perforating the facades heighten the layering effect of the shell and allow light to flood the tall interior spaces. On the interior the steel framing is exposed; l-beams reveal the grid ornamenting the facade. The building meets the ground with a thick base of stone.
