Photo: Bailey Hall
As representative of the Classical Revival of the early 20th century, Bailey has a two-story rotunda roof, rectilinear entry hall fronted by a wide set of stairs. The Ionic columns screen both the entry and the curved verandas on the sides of the building. The auditorium itself is U-shaped. At the rear of the building is another rectilinear mass similar to the front. A gently sloped roof with cresting tops the auditorium. This same material is used to cover the side verandas. The brick building is raised on a stone base patterned with square windows. At some point an addition was made to the rear of Bailey Hall. Now the rear mass rises to the height of the auditorium. Minor alterations of structure, existing partitions and bathrooms have been done. New approach steps were constructed in 1939. Some new windows were installed in 1972.
