Photo: Big Red Barn
The Big Red Barn is sited east of the rear gardens of the A. D. White House. Surrounded by backyard and the A. D. White gardens, the board and batten exterior has wooden awnings shading the multi-panned sash. The first floor is open and undivided. The small loft-like second floor is used as additional seating and for gatherings. Attributes which distinguish this small wooden building are its gambrel roof and tower. In 1956 the building was adapted and extended to the east for alumni gatherings. Stalls on the ground floor were eliminated and the second storey hayloft was made useable. Windows, a large stone fireplace and restrooms were added. The facility underwent structural repairs in 2009.
