Facilities Career Mapping

The team works together to create career development pathways for individuals while enhancing collaboration between facilities staff across campus. The initiative is open to all of Facilities Services and Campus Facilities Departments.

Examples of Recent Rotational Assignments

Building Coordinators from Colleges, EH&S Emergency Service Specialists and EMCS Operators spent some time shadowing employees in the Facilities Customer Service Center to learn how the center operates.

Pipefitter from the PDC Pipe Shop is spending a year working as a PDC Project Coordinator on a major capital project.

Rotational Assignment Program (RAP) 

Two types of short-term opportunities to try new job responsibilities are available.

1) Skill Development

Offer lateral level opportunities to broaden knowledge and enhance job skills. High potential employees can participate. Supervisors work together to develop opportunities. Selection by mutual consent of supervisors and employee.

2) Leadership Development

Offer higher level opportunities to broaden management and enhance leadership skills. High potential and high performing employees can participate. Employees are nominated to participate based on certain criteria. Supervisors tap into pool of nominees during selection process.

If you are a manager interested in creating a Rotational Assignment or an employee interested in participating in a Rotational Assignment, please email the Facilities Career Mapping team. You can also submit an Interest Inquiry to learn more about participating in a Rotational Assignment or for supervisors to create a Rotational Assignment. The Rotational Assignment Agreement template is available for supervisors and participants to set expectations and monitor progress throughout the assignment.
