Willard Straight Hall replaced Barnes Hall s the center of student extra-curricular activities. It was the second collegiate Gothic building on central campus (after Barton Hall) and the first built on Central Ave, just above the Collegiate Gothic men's dormitories on West Campus. The building has two entrances, the more monumental north entrance for men and the smaller south entrance for women. Separate lounges for men and women were located just inside. Because of the sloping site, the main entrance is actually located on the fourth floor of six. Offices, public rooms and meeting rooms are above and additional offices, dining facilities, and a theater are below. The Ithaca stone masonry is trimmed in cream limestone. The dormed roof is slate. In 1954 the extension to the dining area was added in matching style.
