Schurman Hall is a three story horizontal structure with a flat roof. It is one of several buildings integrated within the Vet School Complex. The wall facing is clad in red brick on the lower story, while the upper two are framed in buff colored brick. The brick walls are set in a common bond. The use of this color scheme was to create harmony with the white farmhouses and red barns of the local countryside. An open loggia supported by rough-sawn marble (?) columns fronts the facade. The enclosed glass entrance is situated along the western facade where Schurman and Law Auditorium meet. The strip windows are framed in vertical metal mullions with masonry spandrels dividing the facade into groupings of four windows per division. The upper levels on the southwest end, which houses the reference and reading rooms, feature continuous strip windows in response to the need for natural lighting. These features (windows) emphasize the hospitality of Schurman Hall.
